The German Surfer

We received this email the other day... The title is "Good Job Guys! Greetings From Germany! After reading it we were ecstatic. I had been studying for finals non-stop and it made my day. The guy who wrote it is super cool and we have been trading emails back and forth. In fact, we are going to send him a packet of YWT stickers to spread around Germany. He lives 5 hours from the ocean but makes the drive in order to surf in wind blown freezing cold water!!! Anyways, we thought it would be cool to share his email with you guys. He asked us to leave his name out and that we could sign it 'German Surfer'

Hey guys,

i am from Germany and just wanted to give you guys heads up on your blog. It is and has been really fun.

I ran into the web address on the ci surf blog and checked it out one day.
Great surfing and funny video clips.

I am on your guy's site regularly now as it is a nice and quick way to get my mind off my thesis (which I am currently working on), watch some surfing and have a laugh (more often than not).

I am living a good 5 hour drive away from the next sea access, which is the Dutch North Sea coast. Most of the time there are only windswells and some chop to surf in. However, although the waves mostly don't look to promising - driving that long is always worthwhile the effort, once you are in it's always fun - also when freezing your bud off in cold water with way too little rubber on.
I started surfing at the age of 16 while I spent a high school year abroad on an exchange program a bit south of where you guys are living - in the San Diego area.
Since then, my mission has always been getting near waves as often and long as possible.

Stoked for your surfing and lifestyle. I am hoping that in the future I will be living much closer to the beach than at least a 5 hour drive every time :)
